Privacy Policy for CoTabor
Last Updated: May 12, 2026
1. Introduction
CoTabor ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered browser extension co-worker. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we handle data within the CoTabor extension.
2. Data Collection and Usage
Local-First Principle: CoTabor is designed with a local-first architecture. Most of your data, including task history, configuration, and the three-layer hierarchical memory, is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB and Chrome's local storage.
- AI Processing: To provide AI services, the extension sends page content and user-provided prompts to the Large Language Model (LLM) providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, or custom endpoints) that you have explicitly configured. This data is used solely to generate responses for your requests.
- External Synchronizations: If you choose to enable external integrations (such as Notion or Model Context Protocol tool servers), data will be transmitted to those services as directed by your actions. We do not control how these third-party platforms handle your data.
- No Telemetry: We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or browsing history for our own use.
3. Data Protection and Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. Your data remains under your control, either stored locally or synced to your own accounts on third-party platforms.
4. Permissions Justification
The extension requests several sensitive permissions to function as an AI co-worker:
- Debugger: To automate browser interactions and capture visual state as requested by the user.
- Host Permissions (): To allow the AI to analyze and interact with content on any website you choose to use it on.
- Side Panel: To provide a persistent interface for collaboration.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
